UMNO magazine

Certain members of the Miss Bossy Boots team have been exceptionally busy lately. Featuring in the latest issue of UMNO magazine is this fashion shoot entitled 'Bone Dry' as shot in New York. All our stylist has to say about her work on this one is something the to the effect of "HAWT!" All I have to say about it is 'Um, Yes!'

Jeremy Blincoe for Metal Couture

Working their way around the web are Jeremy Blincoe's photographs for Australian jewellery label Metal Couture. They've certainly caught the eye of Trend Hunter who called the series "surreally angelic and devilish" (though they could just as easily be describing little ol' me). I think Blincoe's fantastical leanings are a perfect fit for the avant garde pieces.

The Big Apple

I spent a semi-lazy Sunday yesterday watching stylist Jordan Moore and fashion photographer Christian Blanchard work their collective magic on Australian label Bento's upcoming lookbook and campaign. I'll let you in on a behind-the-scenes sneak peek from that shoot soon; but first I wanted to share a past project from the dynamic duo...

The following article 'Model Home' is from the very recent issue 50 of Yen magazine. Jordan and Christian visited five models in New York - Rosie Tupper, Amelia Brown, Fabienne Vanderhaeghen, Zippora Seven and Skye Strake - as they make their own way living in the Big Apple. New York, models, interiors, great snaps and styling...what's not to love?

So pleased to announce that one of Miss Bossy Boot's very own, Christian Blanchard has been crowned runner up as Australian Fashion Photographer of the Year at the recent Australian Professional Photography Awards. To quote Jennifer Aniston in the forgettable yet appropriately titled flick 'Picture Perfect', you're "Number 2...and that ain't bad!"

And a big congratulations also to the category's winner Peter Coulson. You can check out a gallery featuring more of the awarded photographers' works by clicking here.

Christian Blanchard interview with Photo Mojo + more Nikon classes

Sydney-based photographer Christian Blanchard was recently interviewed by Mitch and Willis at the PhotoMojo show. Willis met Christian while attending one of his Editorial Fashion Photography classes and invited him on the show. Christian chats about his discovering his love of photography, getting into more film work and being pedantic about shoot locations; the resulting chat they describe as a "highlight in the history of the show".

Listen online or download the podcast for free by clicking here. Note: Strong language and adult themes for the about the first minute. Christian's interview comes in at the 33 minute 25 second mark.

-----------
Christian Blanchard will soon be travelling around the country again with his Editorial Fashion Photography classes for Nikon School. Intended for everyone from first-time fashion photographers to the more experienced snappers, you'll find Christian sharing his secrets (that have led to him working with Mimco, Nobody Denim and FashionTREND magazine among others) in Sydney on this Saturday 2nd July, Melbourne on Saturday 9th July and Brisbane on Saturday 27th August. WHOA it's Jeremy Blincoe

The fantastically named WHOA magazine - it stands for What's Happening with Original Artists - is a new publication based out of the States. Their June issue has just been released and features none other than photographer Jeremy Blincoe among its glossy pages. Jeremy chats about nervous exhibition openings, stuffed birds, advertising vs. fine art photography, and shows off some work from his Wander & Wonder series. Go forth and read...

Fashion Supports Tracky Dack Day

It's been a big month for Philip Boon, lending his styling expertise to not one but two charity fashion events. Here's the second; Fashion supports Tracky Dack Day, a runway show bringing attention to TLC for Kids who provide cheer and valuable optimism to very ill children.

Stylist Philip Boon with the event's host Project Runway's Sarah Gale.

It takes an experienced styling to make the humble "tracky dack" look this good. More evidence below:

Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my Close Up

The latest work from Melbourne-based photographer Jesper Nielsen is naturally beautiful. Can you guess what (perfectly innocent thing) they are advertising?

Mission 65 Round Up

When he's not styling fashion editorials, glossy advertising campaigns or celebrities for the red carpet, Philip Boon rolls up his (probably Gucci) sleeves for a cause.

The stylist's latest charitable project has been hosting and styling the Mission 65 fashion show in conjunction with the Whitehouse Institute of Design students and local designers. The event was a celebration and fundraiser for the Prahran Mission who have been working for the local community for 65 years.

Who said the fashion biz was all style, no substance?

The fashion show took the wartime mantra of "make do and mend" - utilising pieces from Prahran Mission's op-shops - to re-create looks inspired by the 1940's, Christian Dior's 'New Look' with a little Carmen Miranda (doesn't everybody need a little Carmen in their lives?).

Footy Boots?

Seen the recent V/Line ad - Supporting the Victorian Country Footbal League?
We put our footy boots on and ventured via the V/Line to country Victoria to shoot this ad, featuring around 40 members of the local community (the butcher, the baker, and possibly even the candlestick maker) and the local football team. Jesper had the challenge of capturing everyone in the middle of the field just before the game began... dark clouds were looming but nothing got in the way of a great shot! Check out our behind the scenes shots!

Myself and Candice DeVille from Super Kawaii Mama spoke in two classes giving students an insight of the blogging world and how it can assist their careers in styling. Enjoy the pictures taken throughout the day.

Official LMFF Live Shoot Video.

Miss Furry Boots?

Philip Boon came by the office a couple days ago showing off his freshly sourced fur... we couldn't help but try it on. Our verdict - heaven! Fear not PETA they're vintage. Can you spot the live fur? It's our office mut Dusty to the right of Andrea.

Christian Blanchard for M Mag.

Christian Blanchard recently swapped his role and stepped in front of the camera being shot for The Sunday Age as Melbourne's best dressed photographer by Rachel Wells. He's got our vote!
